We provide compliance testing services for wireless/electrical and electronic products, helping customers obtain regulatory certifications recognized both domestically and internationally. Our services ensure the quality and safety of electrical products and devices, including cellular devices, household appliances, consumer electronics, wireless/IoT devices, lighting/electrical equipment, medical devices, information communications technology, and industrial equipment.

About the role

We are looking for an EMC/RF Test Engineer to join our technical staff in San Clemente, CA. In this role, you will perform Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Radio Frequency (RF) testing, technical evaluation and review, and provide support to non-technical personnel. Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply standard engineering standards/principles for product evaluation and compliance testing.
  • Set up and break down test apparatus, equipment, and samples for testing.
  • Maintain and operate testing equipment.
  • Perform EMC and RF testing in accordance with regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Review product specifications, datasheets, test set-up instructions, test plans, and pre-evaluation documents.
  • Prepare documentation/files for compliance with quality system and operating procedures.
  • Extract and compile engineering data, record test data, and perform routine calculations.
  • Analyze test data and generate test data sheets.
  • Create client deliverables such as test reports, letter reports, and certification reports.
  • Communicate test progress, project status, and results with staff, management, and customers.
  • Perform work both on-site and at client locations as required.
  • Interface directly with internal and external clients.
  • Conduct routine operation, maintenance, calibration, qualification, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist in the development, writing, review, and validation of test methods, laboratory SOPs, and other department-level documents.
  • Investigate, respond to, and follow up on client inquiries and complaints.
  • Coordinate with laboratory engineers, technicians, and assistants on sample handling and testing tasks.
  • Manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
  • Provide training, instructions, and oversight to other team members as required.
  • Support sales and other departments as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned to meet project or business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree and/or vocational program in engineering or electrical technologies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or engineering technologies preferred.
  • Electrical and/or mechanical background.
  • Directly related testing experience preferred.
  • Ability and flexibility to work on shifts as assigned.
  • Proficiency in using basic equipment and hand tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well independently, as part of a team, and across multiple cultures.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to handle multiple projects while delivering results on time.
  • Customer-focused with a proactive attitude and excellent organizational skills.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to read, comprehend, interpret, and apply test standards to various products.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of technology relevant to the position.
  • Computer and math skills, including proficiency in Windows-based programs (MS Word, Excel, Access).
  • Good technical/mechanical skills and aptitude.

Other Requirements

  • While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, listen, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, and kneel to install computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required.
