About the role

The EMC Engineer will provide Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) engineering support to the ES31 RF, E3 & GN&C Branch of the Space Systems Department in the Engineering Directorate for the area of aerospace/avionics, space hardware applications, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EMC analysis, requirement definition, test planning, and circuit test and analysis.
  • Evaluate test and analysis data and waivers in the areas of electromagnetic interference (EMI), electrostatic discharge, corona, grounding, isolation, bonding, and wiring.
  • Prepare inputs to, or assist in development of: Project documentation, Requirement verification, Requirement validation, Presentation and trade study reports/packages.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Science from an ABET accredited institution with 5-10 years applicable experience.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, -462, -464 or equivalent specifications.
  • Proficiency with common computer operating systems and Microsoft Office software programs.
  • US Citizen with STAR ID.
  • Proficiency with: Mathematical Analyses (MATLAB, MathCAD, Excel), Analysis Tools (spice software and electromagnetic simulation software such as High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), FEKO or equivalent), Operational knowledge of EMI Lab Test Equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators), Programming Languages (C, Visual Basic).

Schedule

  • Normal workday 7:30-4:30, Monday thru Friday.
  • Mild overtime may be required to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job.
