Description As an EMC Design Engineer, you will evaluate, design, and optimize EMC solutions that define the quality and reliability of Apple products — combining deep technical expertise with innovation and creative problem-solving at every stage of development. You will apply first-principles thinking to EMC challenges, stripping problems down to their fundamental physics to uncover solutions that go beyond conventional approaches. You will think systematically about products as integrated designs, understanding how components and subsystems contribute to overall EMC performance — always asking not just what the data shows, but why. You will seamlessly collaborate with design teams, test engineers, and cross-functional partners to develop and implement solutions that are elegant, effective, and manufacturable. You will conduct design reviews, create comprehensive test plans, and analyze results — turning findings into clear, actionable guidance for peers and leadership. You will embrace Apple’s culture of continuous learning, sharing best practices and lessons learned to support first-pass success on future designs. Responsibilities Review mechanical designs of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC complianceReview printed circuit board (PCB) schematics and layouts for emissions and immunity controlPartner with our vendors on defining component specifications and validation procedures to meet EMC requirements at the system level.Prepare comprehensive test plans, supervise the execution of test plans and compilation of test reportsDefine validation requirements and training of test engineers on the collection of data at factories and Apple labsTroubleshoot electrical and mechanical causes of EMC failures and identify solutions that are agreeable to cross-functional partnersReview and analyze data from multiple designs, present findings to peers, partners and management and recommend design changes Minimum Qualifications BSEE or equivalent experience2+ years of experience and/or advanced education in EMCPrior experience and/or education in EMC, ESD, RF and signal integrity areasAbility to build effective working relationships with other engineers and cross-functional partnersExcellent communication and organizational skillsWilling and able to support occasional international travel to other Apple sites, vendors, and contract manufacturers Preferred Qualifications MSEE / PhD with a specialization in electromagnetic fields and/or applicationsExperience with electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, and ADSExperience in one or more of the following fields: EMC, ESD, RF/Antenna, Signal Integrity and Power IntegrityDetailed understanding of design and testing of ITE products for EMC compliance and deep knowledge in EMC/ ESD debug techniquesExperience with Matlab and scripting for test automation and data analysisProficient in schematic and layout review of PCBs for emissions and immunity controlAble to perform CAD review of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC complianceIn-depth knowledge of worldwide EMC regulations, test methods, and standards,including EN55032, EN55035, IEC61000 series, and ETSI 301 489 seriesExperience with EMC lab equipment such as spectrum and vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and transmission line pulsers (TLP) Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $129,300 and $225,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
