About the role

BioLite is looking for a passionate Embedded Systems Engineer to guide innovation in our next-generation power electronics products. You will work with the product development team—mechanical, firmware, and electrical engineers—to develop new products that push beyond today’s features and specifications. You will lead important aspects of embedded design, applying technical expertise to develop high-quality, reliable solutions while navigating gray spaces and undefined challenges to ensure an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and manage the development of firmware for MCUs and SoCs used as controllers in our systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external developers using modern version control tools and methods.
  • Write control systems algorithms for applications such as power conversion, max power-point tracking, fault condition protection, charge controllers, communication protocols, and display drivers.
  • Design, develop, analyze, verify, and troubleshoot embedded systems to ensure reliability and performance across products.
  • Work closely with hardware engineering to define specifications for future products, including recommendations on new technologies and design best practices.
  • Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM-based coding assistants) to accelerate firmware prototyping, code generation, debugging, and documentation.
  • Deliver products within scope, budget, and quality requirements by collaborating with project managers.
  • Conduct and participate in hardware and software reviews.
  • Document designs to facilitate interaction with other developers, manufacturing partners, QA, and product documentation authors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; OR 5+ years of directly relevant experience in embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in microcontrollers, low-level firmware (C/C++), and board-level hardware interaction.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python for build and test scripting.
  • Experience with electrical schematics and circuit design (digital & analog).
  • Experience with MCU peripherals (PWM, ADC, DAC, Timers, LCD Drivers, Button Interfaces).
  • Working knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN).
  • Working knowledge of bootloaders and OTA best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies).
  • Proficiency in debugging tools, board bring-up, and real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS).
  • Experience with AI coding assistants to streamline firmware prototyping, script generation, and code optimization.
  • Experience with power management, self-test, and fault handling.
  • Experience with ARM architecture.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, version control (Git/GitHub), and Agile collaboration.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and tools.
  • Experience with consumer electronics, batteries, power conversion, and/or IoT technologies (Bluetooth, cloud, mobile).
