About the role

NTS is seeking a hands-on Embedded Systems Automation Engineer to join our hardware operations team. In this role you will be responsible for flashing and provisioning NVIDIA Jetson-based assemblies, developing and running functional test procedures, and generating the artifact packages that accompany each unit before it ships to a customer. This is an on-the-bench role you will be physically handling hardware every day. You should be comfortable reading a schematic block diagram, connecting serial consoles, and assembling carrier board configurations, as well as writing the scripts and n8n workflows that automate repetitive validation steps and produce structured test reports (MAC addresses, software versions, pass/fail results) against each unit's build record. This position is well-suited for a candidate early in their career who has demonstrated practical ability with Linux systems and basic automation tooling and is looking to grow within an embedded hardware and edge computing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Flash NVIDIA Jetson modules (Orin NX, AGX Orin, Orin Nano) using NVIDIA SDK Manager and custom flash scripts over USB and network interfaces
  • Assemble Jetson SOM and carrier board configurations, install M.2 / NVMe storage, and peripheral cabling according to build specifications
  • Configure boot media (eMMC, NVMe) and validate successful boot to the target Jetson Linux (L4T) image
  • Apply post-flash provisioning steps: hostname assignment, network configuration, software license installation, and service enablement
  • Maintain and improve flash scripts and provisioning playbooks to reduce per-unit bring-up time
  • Document flash procedures and build configurations; flag anomalies or yield issues to engineering
  • Develop and maintain functional test scripts in Bash/equivalent that validate hardware interfaces
  • Build and extend automation workflows in n8n/equivalent to orchestrate multi-step test sequences, aggregate results, and trigger downstream artifact generation steps
  • Execute pre-fulfillment test runs against each unit; capture pass/fail status per test case and log raw output for traceability
  • Enumerate and validate hardware identifiers per unit: MAC addresses (all interfaces), serial numbers, module part numbers, and storage device IDs
  • Verify installed software versions, kernel release, BSP version, and application package manifests against the target build specification
  • Maintain a test case library in version control; update test cases as hardware revisions or software baselines change
  • Generate structured test reports per unit (PDF and/or JSON/CSV) that record: unit serial number, MAC addresses for all network interfaces, software and firmware versions, test case results, operator ID, and timestamp
  • Ensure every shipped unit has a complete, signed-off artifact package stored in the designated repository before fulfillment hand-off
  • Maintain a build log or traveler document that tracks each unit from flash through test completion to packaging
  • Automate report templating so that artifact generation requires no manual formatting; operator input is limited to pass/fail confirmation and exception notes
  • Flag and quarantine units with open test failures; maintain a defect log with failure descriptions and disposition (rework, RMA, scrap)
  • Assign and verify static IP addresses and hostnames per the
