About the role

Silvus Technologies is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join the R&D team, reporting to the Vice President of Research & Development. This role involves developing MANET radios and advanced research projects, covering device drivers, networking functions, encryption, and security features. The position is based at Silvus headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA, with a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of 3 onsite days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).

Responsibilities

  • Implement the software portion of MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols.
  • Develop network management software and web interfaces.
  • Implement security protocols and encryption algorithms.
  • Develop audio streaming and push-to-talk voice applications.
  • Analyze and improve product security and robustness to meet regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria.
  • Implement testing software for product performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain device drivers and board support packages for ARM and RISC-V based systems.
  • Customize Linux systems and scripting.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant engineering field with a minimum of 2 years of embedded system software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Expertise in C programming and Linux kernel driver development.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to U.S. government contract requirements.
  • Successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, or Communications Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and encryption algorithms, such as the suite of CNSA algorithms.
  • Experience with socket programming and Internet/Ethernet protocols.
  • Understanding of MAC and networking layers in communication systems.
  • Experience with AMD UltraScale+ MPSoC and Microchip PolarFire SoC BSP development.
  • Deep understanding of IPsec, network protocols, data authentication, and encryption.
  • Linux Interrupt Service Routine development.

Travel requirements for this role are under 10%.

Pay

$48.08 - $67.31 USD per hour. The pay range is based on market research and peer data and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
