About the Role

As a part of the Platform software team, the Embedded Software Engineer will design, develop, and deliver low-level embedded software for Next Gen ECUs used in Caterpillar NPI programs. Your work will shape stronger, more sustainable communities as part of a global team focused on progress and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze functional and technical requirements.
  • Prepare and peer-review design proposals.
  • Write and implement source code for embedded systems and enhance existing systems.
  • Test and debug embedded system software using various tools/methods to improve code quality and optimize system performance.

Requirements

  • Accredited BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Solid experience in research, design, development, and testing of low-layer embedded software, such as RTOS integrations, I/O drivers, boot loaders, non-volatile memory interfacing, board initializations, or communication networks (e.g., J1939/CAN/Ethernet) for electronic controls modules.
  • Experience in real-time embedded software development using C or C++.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR standard and modular architecture.
  • Experience with Python and shell scripting for automating build processes.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and anti-patterns.
  • Familiarity with version management tools (e.g., Git) and related merging/management techniques.
  • Experience with Agile software development/planning processes.
  • Participation in technical and code reviews.

Pay

Summary pay range: $97,530.00 - $146,290.00. Compensation and benefits may vary depending on job level, market location, knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.
