Embedded Software Development Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA • Duration: 6 months, possible extensions • Compensation: $70-75/hr
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. This is a fully onsite position. W2, direct hires only.
About the role
Develop embedded software using Rust, C, C++, or other modern programming languages. Develop device drivers and system-level applications for embedded hardware interfaces, including I2C, SPI, CAN, and similar communication protocols. Develop and enhance Linux kernel and RTOS features. Implement security features for embedded systems. Collaborate closely with hardware and software engineering teams to support board bring-up, integration, and system validation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and deployment.
- Hands-on experience developing software for embedded systems, including board bring-up, firmware deployment/flashing, and operating system integration.
- Strong programming experience with C/C++, Python, and Linux.
Nice to have
- Experience developing production software in Rust.
- Experience with cloud-based development tools or AWS environments.
