About the role

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. This role can be based in Northridge, CA, Arlington, VA, or Redmond, WA, with U.S. relocation benefits. Onsite work is required 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground terminal systems, focusing on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms.
  • Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high-performance software.
  • Implement and integrate software for data processing, device control, and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP).
  • Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless hardware-software interaction and system reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold high software quality standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl
  • Experience with modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent

Skills

  • Experience with fault-tolerant, real-time platforms
  • Experience with modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms
  • Experience with data processing, device control, and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Experience with debugging and resolving complex hardware-software integration issues
  • Experience with collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with mentoring junior engineers

Pay

Base salary range for this position is $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually.

Schedule

Onsite work is required 5 days a week.
