About the role

You will design, craft, and deploy reliable embedded software for large quantities of consumer electronic products. Amazon LEO is breaking new ground with every device we design, and you will be an integral part of bringing this family of products to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for Customer Terminal devices within the Amazon LEO system.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, design, code, test, and code/test coverage.
  • Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, Python, or other languages.
  • Apply real-time embedded software philosophies and practices.
  • Work with Linux and/or RTOS.
  • Review schematics, use logic analyzers, and apply embedded software troubleshooting techniques.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

A day in the life

As part of the Amazon LEO Customer Terminal Software Team, you will design and implement embedded software used in Amazon LEO products. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams inside and outside of Amazon, crafting software from requirements and design through code, test, and product deployment. Flexibility and responsiveness to changing priorities are essential.

About the team

The Amazon LEO Customer Terminal Software Team supports the devices that connect customers to the Amazon LEO network. We provide software for both applications and the underlying Linux system, working closely with hardware, product, and operations teams to deliver a great customer experience.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience in embedded wireless systems.

Pay

Base salary range: $143,700 – $194,400 USD annually (Redmond, WA).
