Embedded Software Dev Engineer, Amazon Leo CT SW Team
About the role
LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. You will design, craft, and deploy reliable embedded software for large quantities of consumer electronic products. LEO is breaking new ground with every device we design, and you will be an integral part of bringing this family of products to customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software for terrestrial devices within the Amazon Leo system.
- Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, code, test, and code/test coverage.
- Develop embedded software in assembly, C, C++, Rust, or other languages.
- Apply real-time embedded software philosophies and practices.
- Work with Linux and RTOS.
- Review schematics, use logic analyzers, and apply embedded software (bare-metal) troubleshooting techniques.
A day in the life
As part of the Amazon Leo CT SW Team, you will design and implement embedded software used in Project Kuiper products. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams inside and outside of Amazon. You will craft your software from requirements, designs, code, test, to product deployment. Flexibility and responsiveness to changing priorities are essential.

The Amazon Leo CT SW Team supports the devices that connect our customers to the Kuiper network. We provide software for both applications and the underlying Linux system. We work hand in hand with hardware, product, and operations teams to deliver a great experience for our customers.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- 1+ years of Object-Oriented Design experience.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Pay
USA, WA, Redmond - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually.
