Embedded Integration Systems Engineer Sr
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with Cameo Systems Modeler (or other SysML‑compatible MBSE tools)
- Experience with Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or similar
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret
Job Description
The Embedded Integration Systems Engineer is responsible for defining, developing, and maintaining the architecture and models of subsystem packages that contain embedded hardware, circuitware, and software elements. This role ensures that each package meets its functional, performance, and interface requirements while providing clear insight into how the embedded components operate within the larger system. The engineer partners with cross‑functional teams to manage package‑level configuration, interface development, and performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Package Architecture Management:
- Develop and maintain package‑level architecture models (functional, logical, and physical) for embedded hardware‑software integrations.
- Produce and update functional/logical block diagrams, state‑mode charts, functional flows, sequence‑of‑event timelines, mission‑critical events, and Concept of Operations (ConOps) for each package.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, firmware, software, test, and program teams to gather, refine, and validate package functions.
- Perform analyses to verify that package functional requirements align with package specifications and overall system objectives.
- Configuration (Cameo) Management:
- Own configuration management of package architecture models using Cameo Systems Modeler (or equivalent MBSE tool).
- Ensure all architecture changes are documented, reviewed, and approved in accordance with configuration‑control processes.
- Coordinate with the design and embedded‑software teams to keep architecture baselines synchronized with detailed design deliverables.
- Package Interface Management:
- Lead development of functional and physical interface requirements at the package level, emphasizing embedded interfaces (e.g., data buses, memory maps, timing signals).
- Support creation and maintenance of Interface Correlation Documents (IcDs) for the package and maintain traceability between interface requirements, architecture models, and downstream design artifacts.
- Work with system‑level interface managers to resolve conflicts and ensure package interfaces remain coherent with the overall system architecture.
- Package KPI Management:
- Define, develop, and maintain package‑specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that capture embedded performance metrics such as processing latency, power consumption, reliability, and mission‑critical timing.
- Track KPI trends, generate status reports, and provide actionable insights to the system‑level KPI manager.
- Ensure accurate roll‑up of package performance data to support system‑level performance assessments and decision‑making.
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s (minimum) in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
- 5+ years of architecture, modeling, and integration work on embedded hardware‑software packages for complex systems (defense, aerospace, or high‑tech).
- Prior FBM Missile or other Missile or Missile Defense experience (to include threat system).
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering practices and implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage architectural baselines and change control for embedded packages.
- Experience defining and documenting embedded interfaces (e.g., SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet, memory maps, timing constraints).
- Experience with process development and deployment.
- Experience with DOORS.
- Ability to conduct functional verification, performance analysis, and trade‑studies for embedded packages.
- Documented LM Systems Engineering Bootcamp Training completion.
- Strong written and oral communication; capable of translating technical concepts for multidisciplinary audiences.
- Proven effectiveness in matrixed, cross‑functional environments.
- Familiarity with INCOSE MBSE standards, ISO 15288, MIL‑STD‑499; experience developing and tracking KPIs for embedded systems.
