We are recruiting an Embedded C Software Engineer for a global technology leader developing rugged embedded computing systems for defense, aerospace, industrial, and scientific applications. This is a full-time, onsite position in Austin, Texas, with minimal travel required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance embedded software in C for microcontroller- and processor-based systems
  • Debug complex interactions between software, firmware, FPGAs, and electronic hardware
  • Support new product development, board bring-up, product improvements, and sustaining engineering
  • Diagnose field and customer issues through structured root-cause analysis
  • Create automated test software and engineering validation tools
  • Collaborate with FPGA, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and test engineers
  • Improve software reliability through code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and continuous integration

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Professional embedded software development experience using C
  • Hands-on skill debugging embedded hardware with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, or signal generators
  • Strong understanding of embedded architectures and software-to-hardware interfaces
  • Experience troubleshooting complex embedded software and hardware issues independently
  • Background supporting products throughout development, release, and ongoing improvement

Skills

  • Experience with BSPs, device drivers, Embedded Linux, Yocto, PetaLinux, or RTOS environments is valuable
  • Familiarity with FPGA-based systems, AMD/Xilinx tools, Python, Git, CI, LabVIEW, TestStand, or schematic review is beneficial
