ELL Paraprofessional- Junior High

Essential Duties

• Recognize the basic dignities of students, parents and families, colleagues, and subordinates.
• Exercise due care to protect the mental and physical safety of students.
• Supervise students during transitions, recesses, lunches, and other times as directed.
• Affiliate with ENL teachers in providing services to meet students’ language acquisition needs.
• Supplement teacher instruction to support student learning.
• Plan and instruct students individually and/or in small groups to support student learning.
• Perform non-instructional duties to support school operations.
• Initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with students’ parents and families.

Essential Qualifications And Characteristics

• A high school diploma or an equivalent.
• A positive, student-centered, and solution-focused attitude towards education and students.
• The ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with others.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Punctuality and regular attendance.
• Respect for supervisors.
• The ability to work with diverse groups of students.
• The ability to enforce corporation and school rules and policies.
• The ability to adhere to strict confidentiality policies.
• The ability to use various computer and technology resources.
• A past record clear of criminal activity and child abuse or neglect.

Working Conditions

• The duties of this position are performed in all school environments.
• Persons are required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, and depth perception.
• Noise levels in the working environments may be moderately loud or loud.
• Occasionally, persons are required to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Persons are also required to maintain emotional composure under stress.
