General Summary & Scope

The Elite Stylist engages with guests to consult on hair care needs, recommend products and services, and deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. Supporting the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM), the role focuses on performance (service sales and productivity), guest service, and adherence to operational procedures and compliance standards. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, brow services, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $1,900 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service, contributing to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services during work time, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a well-rounded guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest service.
• Promote the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services, adhering to state board guidelines.
• Utilize service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
• Use booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
• Protect company assets by providing exceptional guest service and executing operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant work experience.
• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, brow services, and ear piercing (where applicable), or an aptitude to develop these skills.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Special Position Requirements

• Continuous mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.
• Ability to stand for long periods during shift.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.

Pay

The pay range for this position is the higher of $15.00 - $21.40 per hour or services pay for the workweek pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay is based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by applicable law and tips paid by service guests.
