General Summary & Scope

The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. Delivering quality professional services, the Elite Stylist supports the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) with a focus on performance, guest service, and operational compliance. This role requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, brow services, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $1900 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service. Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest service.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives for an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services during work time. Share knowledge about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail/service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services, adhering to state board guidelines.
• Use established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems for return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
• Protect company assets through exceptional guest service and operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant work experience.

Skills

• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, brow services, and ear piercing (where applicable). Aptitude to develop skills in all service categories.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Developed communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

Special Position Requirements

• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Continuous mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.
• Ability to stand for long periods during shift.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.

Pay

The pay range for this position is the higher of $15.00 - $23.60 per hour or services pay for the workweek pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay is based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay and tips from service guests.
