About the Role

Alpha leverages AI-driven 1-on-1 learning to help students complete core academics in roughly two hours each day. The time saved opens up space for life skills, passion projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight—they need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments speak louder than words: someone capable of reading the energy in a room, establishing expectations, and guiding students through resistance, distraction, and doubt.

The AI manages instructional delivery; your mission is to motivate, coach, and enforce the same unrelenting standards you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time is spent in direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions, identifying obstacles and setting stretch goals. Another forty percent goes to facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery, not engagement metrics. The final twenty percent is dedicated to morning kickoffs that set a daily tone where excellence is non-negotiable.

This role remains anchored in student interaction. The payoff is witnessing students grow from hesitation to confidence, such as a student who avoided eye contact in September delivering a presentation to adults by May.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish stretch goals, and ensure accountability
• Facilitate structured life-skills workshops centered on mastery, drawing on authentic stories from your own elite background, and evaluate mastery via Alpha's Test2Pass framework
• Establish the daily cultural standard through focused morning kickoffs that reinforce high-performance norms across campus
• Monitor student progress continuously and recalibrate coaching approaches using data, not intuition
• Cultivate trusted mentor relationships with students and families by maintaining high expectations, consistency, and documented motivational strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments (Alpha's AI-powered academic system manages instruction; you manage drive)
• Presenting to a full classroom of 30 students (your focus is intensive coaching in small settings, not large-group instruction)
• Supervising other staff or ascending a management track (this role centers on direct student outcomes, not organizational advancement)
• Attending faculty meetings or navigating institutional red tape (your schedule remains student-centered)
• Compromising standards to satisfy performance targets (if a student achieves 99%, your role is to uncover what prevented 100%)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least one documented instance of exceptional achievement in a highly selective, globally recognized field (examples: national or international competition medals, top-tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding and scaling a successful venture)
• At least 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership roles where you demonstrably improved others' performance
• Willing to work in-person at an Alpha campus in Orange County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; South Bay, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Kirkland (Seattle), WA (relocation support provided)
• Legal right to work in the United States

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Background in elite competitive athletics (varsity D1, national team, or professional level) with experience coaching or mentoring younger athletes
• Experience in high-accountability environments like management consulting, investment banking, or military leadership
• Track record of youth development through mentoring in non-academic settings (community organizations, after-school programs, sports camps)
• Comfort presenting to and building trust with high-expectation families paying premium private school tuition

Pay
