What You’ll Do

  • First point of contact for all those entering an elevator at the facility.
  • Greet them with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
  • Issue visitor and parking passes and follow security protocols.
  • Make a memorable first impression by greeting everyone in a professional manner.
  • Operate manual or automatic elevators to transport passengers and freight to designated floors.
  • Monitor elevator usage to ensure capacity loads are never exceeded.
  • Manage weight distribution in the elevators to prevent mechanical strain.
  • Identify and report any mechanical malfunctions, unusual sounds, or leveling issues.
  • Perform daily pre-shift inspections of the elevator cabin, doors, control panels and clean tracks.
  • Handle freight and materials. Load and unload heavy materials, machinery or oversized pallet jack and dollies.
  • Manage janitorial or maintenance work orders as needed.
  • Clock in and out.
  • Acknowledge inquiries or complaints from employees, guests, and co-workers.
  • Provide solutions in a professional customer service-driven manner.
  • Follow property-specific security and emergency procedures.
  • Notify appropriate parties to ensure the safety of all individuals in the building.
  • Explain detailed and/or complicated information within the team.
  • Follow specific directions as given by the manager.

What You’ll Need

  • A High School Diploma or GED with up to 2 years of job-related experience.
  • Experience in heavy material handling required.
  • Fundamental understanding of elevator components, cable systems and hydraulic lifts required.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time and the strength to lift and maneuver heavy items throughout the shift.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

Pay

The minimum salary for the Elevator Operator position is $25 per hour and the maximum salary is $30 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
