Elementary Teacher (Pollocksville Elementary)

• Serves as a helper/caregiver to accommodate the comfort/needs of the assigned student. This may include feeding, toileting, lifting, etc.
• Works in collaboration with the student’s teacher to provide an effective classroom learning environment for the student.
• Assists in instructional preparation/support with other students as needed.
• Provides individualized instruction/direction to the students.
• Demonstrates various instructional activities to assist the student’s comprehension and ability to access the curriculum.
• Keeps the student on task.
• Praises and reinforces achievement of the student.
• Aids in data collection and reports student progress to the teacher.
• Aids with management of student behavior.
• Makes sure buses are monitored for students needing specialized transportation as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience and knowledge of students’ needs at different ages, educational and developmental levels.
• Working knowledge of educational practices, processes, and techniques.
• Willingness to become familiar with Jones County School District’s educational policies and rules as well as federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and rules.
• Skills in communicating verbally and written, through translation and interpretation.
• Maintains confidential student information.
• Participates in staff development opportunities by the district.
• Participates in CPI certification yearly.
