About the Role
As a General Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education by motivating students to achieve academic excellence. You will provide direct instruction using an accelerated, back-to-basics curriculum including Spalding (reading & writing) and enVision Math. You will help students develop and refine skills learned in elementary general music and expand their talents into band, orchestra, choir, musical theater, music exploration, piano, and guitar programs.
Responsibilities
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide students through activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
- Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
- Participate in training and staff meetings.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating meetings as needed.
- Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments.
- Encourage students to uphold school values and model mature behavior and good character.
- Be active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus, and traveling to other campuses as required.
- Participate in events outside of normal hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain.
- The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- A current teaching certificate from within the state where the position is located.
Physical and Travel Requirements
- Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
- This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
- This position may require sitting for long periods, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping, and long periods of concentration.
- Local and in-state travel required.
