Essential Functions
- Consistently plan and deliver lessons that are varied, interesting, engaging and enjoyable for your students.
- Create lesson plans in harmony with students' learning styles.
- Assign homework only in accordance with Uplift’s homework philosophy and in alignment with Professional Learning Community (PLC) team guidelines.
- Offer assignments and assessments in accordance with four-period learning, providing frequent and timely feedback to your students.
- Review and analyze student performance data to develop plans to meet the needs of all students (refer to the 4 essential PLC questions on the intranet).
- Maintain timely, complete and accurate student records (i.e. Skyward).
- Develop curriculum that is aligned to the State standards, referring to these approved guidelines as necessary.
- Develop and implement educational plans such as IEPs, 504 plans, and behavior plans.
- Ensure the classroom is conducive to learning - safe and nurturing for all students.
- Communicate with parents via various means including voice mail, email, Skyward, face-to-face conferences, written correspondence, etc.
- Provide encouraging news and items of concern to parents.
- Return parent e-mail and voice mail messages within 24 hours.
- Conduct research, attend conferences, meetings, and pursue continuing education.
- Model being a life-long learner and provide effective instruction.
- Teach and model elements of Uplift Michigan Online School's approved character education program (7 Habits).
- Ensure students have a healthy self-respect and a respect for others.
- Use teachable moments to reinforce desirable character traits.
- Ensure students follow Uplift’s rules and policies, using a balance of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support along with disciplinary procedures.
General Expectations
- Accountable to the Administrator and communicate with school office personnel and collaborate with fellow teachers.
- Communicate in a professional manner, demonstrating competence and respect for coworkers.
- Achieve an exceptional attendance routine, arriving early and staying late as needed.
- Adhere to Uplift’s employee policies and expectations as outlined in the handbooks.
- Model the mission, vision, and goals of Uplift Michigan Online School and the core values of Summit Management.
Evaluation
- Performance based on primary responsibilities and adherence to general expectations.
- Immediate feedback and year-end evaluation.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Michigan Teaching Certification in the assigned area
- Pre-service experience, as required for certification
