The Opportunity

Lighthouse Community Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Teacher to join our team. This role embodies several core competencies including being an anti-racist educator, facilitating cognitively engaging learning, and demonstrating a keen belief in creating and analyzing achievement data.

  • Specific teaching responsibilities include:
  • Instructing all subjects in a self-contained classroom for TK-2, and in a more departmentalized setting for grades 3-5.
  • Leading an advisory (Crew) daily, up to 2 times per week, and either a guided study hall or designated ELD course.
  • Demonstrating culturally responsive pedagogy, giving students daily opportunities to grapple with rigorous content and meeting high expectations for all students.
  • Planning, implementing, and differentiating curriculum to ensure all student subgroups, including those with IEPs and English Language Learners, achieve grade-level results.
  • Utilizing and analyzing assessments to identify and address students' areas of growth and mastery.

Classroom & School Culture

Build and maintain a classroom culture that supports learning and inclusion, particularly for African-American boys, students with trauma, and students with IEPs. Create positive relationships through nurturing and affirming teacher-student, student-student, and teacher-family partnerships.

Professional Practices/Staff Culture

Grow and contribute as an educator, colleague, learner, and community member. Engage in professional development, advocate for student learning, and reflect on and act on feedback. Administer policies and procedures professionally and promptly.

Environmental Requirements

  • Able to work in loud environments, indoors/outdoors, and various weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, reach, lift up to 25 pounds, walk for long periods, and move quickly.
  • Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding and whiteboard usage.

Supervision

This position reports to the School Principal or principal's designee. It is a 1.0 FTE (full-time exempt) role with a 10-month work year, starting in late July/early August 2026, and follows a 10-month work year with significant student-free days for professional learning and collaboration.

Compensation Package

Lighthouse Community Public Schools offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including a competitive salary and generous health and retirement benefits. The starting salary range for certificated teachers is $61,500-$105,000.
