Elementary Special Education Teacher

About the role

District 49 is seeking a Special Education Teacher for Ridgeview Elementary starting July 28, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach students with special needs according to their Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Collaborate with parents, other teachers, and related service providers to support student learning
• Implement evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions
• Evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills
• Assist in developing and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

• BA/BS from an accredited college or university
• Valid Colorado teaching license endorsed in Special Education Generalist
• Completion of Colorado READ Act training requirements

Qualifications

• Experience in a classroom setting preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families

Skills

• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
• Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes
• Ability to manage diverse student populations

Pay

• Minimum starting pay: $50,500/year
• Maximum salary: $101,999/year
• Initial pay placement based on formal education and years of relevant experience

Schedule

• 182 contracted work days
