Responsibilities
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences of students.
- Show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with best practices and the needs of the students.
- Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Achieve student learning through observations, authentic performance, and formal methods, providing frequent feedback.
- Utilize diagnostic assessment tools to identify the learning strengths and needs of every student regularly.
- Create and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides, teaching fellows, and co-teachers, coaching and supporting their growth.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, assessments, activities, materials, and technology that reflect accommodations for the individual needs of the students assigned.
- Work cooperatively with the Students Support Coordinator to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Absorb and improve professional competence by participating in all professional development opportunities.
- Maintain and improve professional competence by actively participating in team meetings and serving on staff committees.
- Participate in community outreach opportunities.

Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
- Successfully pass a background check.
- Have Mississippi teaching certification for the level and/or subject area of assignment, if applicable.
- Have strong computer skills, including Google Suite.
- Have experience working with under-resourced communities, families, and/or students.
- Have demonstrated success in building relationships and trust with leaders, teachers, parents, and community.
- Have experience managing and influencing teams and individuals to meet specific and strategic outcomes.
- Have proven written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
