About the role
DREAM, originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, serves more than 2,500 youth annually across East Harlem and the South Bronx through seven DREAM Charter Schools and community programs. We focus on rigorous academics, social-emotional learning, family engagement, and health and wellness to empower lifelong learners. Our goal is to expand to serve 3,500 students across seven schools over the next five years.
Responsibilities
- Build a culture where all students can achieve at high levels with co-teachers
- Implement Common Core-aligned curriculum through backward lesson planning and research-based practices
- Participate in meetings, collaborate with teams, and engage in professional development
- Monitor and track academic progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction accordingly
- Create and progress monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Develop a warm and inclusive classroom environment and manage behavior plans
- Analyze data, revise practices, and communicate scholar progress to families
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the school
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- New York State certification in subject area preferred
- At least two years of teaching experience with a record of improving student achievement preferred
- A desire to make a difference in the lives of students, families, and the community
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with various audiences
- A commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Compensation
The salary range for incoming teachers is $75,000 to $100,000. Additional compensation is added for those with Master's degrees and NYS Special Education certifications. Teachers are eligible for annual salary increases based on tenure and performance; salaries can exceed the incoming teacher band.
