Qualifications
A valid New York State School Building Administrator certificate
A minimum of five (5) years of satisfactory teaching experience and/or supervisory experience in the public schools.
An exceptional educator who has demonstrated school leadership within the Elementary School setting.
Responsibilities
- Promotes the continuous educational development of each student.
- Makes the school facility an attractive, pleasant and productive place in which to work and learn.
- Plans, manages and evaluates instructional and administrative systems so as to maximize student and staff achievement and satisfaction.
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Supervises the planning, organizing and implementation of all school activities.
- Initiates, designs and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
- Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct and health of the students.
- Assumes leadership in the development, implementation, revision and evaluation of the curriculum.
- Plans, supervises and evaluates the school's extra-curricular program.
- Supervises all professional, paraprofessional and classified personnel attached to the school.
- Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.
- Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training, teacher placement, preparation, and practice teacher placement.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary according to due process for the rights of the students.
- Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation and support.
- Promotes parental involvement in the school program through such things as PTA activities, school visitation, orientation programs and parent conferences.
- Prepares and submits the school's budgeting request within the approved allocation and monitors expenditures of funds.
- Supervises the various local funds generated by student activities.
- Counsels staff members regarding their individual and group performance.
- Coordinates or supervises such support services as maintenance, security, food service, financial and accounting functions.
- Aids in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training and assigning of the school's professional, paraprofessional and classified staff.
- Plans and supervises fire drills and emergency preparedness programs.
- Provides for the preparation of reports, records and lists in a timely and organized fashion as required for the school's administration.
- Participates in principal's meetings, negotiations and any other appropriate meetings as required.
- Attends special events held to recognize student achievement and other school sponsored activities and functions.
- Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading journals and publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
- Initiates and coordinates among the staff the development of grantsmanship offerings in the private sector to provide the resources in the improvement of curriculum and instruction.
