Elementary School Math Tutor

About the Role

SmartStart Education seeks a small-group math tutor to work with elementary school students in Cleveland, Ohio. Tutors will lead groups of 1-4 students identified as struggling with fundamental math skills, spanning Kindergarten through 5th grade. Sessions occur within the classroom (push-in services) or outside of it (pull-out services), and tutors must be comfortable in both settings.

Tutors are responsible for taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal mobile device.

Schedule

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The position begins October 6, 2026, and ends February 16, 2027.

Pay

$28.16 - $31.29 per hour.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in any field (applicants with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered).
• At least one year of teaching or tutoring experience in a school or other educational setting.
• Mastery of elementary school math concepts and skills.
• Understanding of challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, including racial, socio-economic, and cultural disparities.
• Passion and commitment to student success.
• Excellent punctuality and adherence to schedules.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Ability to commute to the designated school location.
• Comfort navigating a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways.
