About the Role

Oaklawn Elementary School is seeking an Elementary R.I.S.E. Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. With support from the ESSDACK Resilience Team, this teacher will support students who have been long term suspended or expelled, as determined or assigned by a hearing committee. Alongside a paraprofessional, this teacher will provide academic instruction and social emotional support to help students transition back into their classrooms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Current Kansas State Teaching License on file in the Central Office.
  • Desire to continue career improvement.

Requirements

  • Elementary classroom teachers, as well as middle and high school language arts teachers, are required to obtain an ESOL endorsement by the end of their third year with the district. Requirements for obtaining the endorsement are determined by the Kansas State Department of Education and may include coursework and/or passing the appropriate exam.
  • The district provides access to a Canvas course designed to help teachers prepare for the exam and will reimburse the cost of the exam once the ESOL endorsement has been completed and officially added to the teacher's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

Pay & Schedule

  • Salary is based on experience and education: $50,003 - $85,354.
  • The regular teacher contract is currently 184.5 days.
  • The district accepts PDC for salary placement.
