Elementary Paraprofessional: 1:1 Special Education Assistant: Dedicated Adult Support Northeast Campus)

About the role

Highline Academy Northeast is a community dedicated to fostering academic, personal, and civic excellence. Dedicated Adult Support (DAS) serve as one-to-one (1:1) paraprofessionals for students in Special Education, supporting academic, health, daily living, and social-emotional and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

• Provides services to one or more individual students as outlined in their Individual Education Program (IEP).
• Maintains classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the classroom teacher and/or special educator.
• Supports daily living procedures such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene.
• Supports implementation of students' individual behavior intervention plans, crisis/safety plans, and health care plans.
• Implements student accommodations and modifications as outlined in their IEP in both academic and non-academic settings.
• Communicates and coordinates with students and families about routine educational issues.
• Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and technique.
• Collects data on students' individual IEP goals.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or Equivalent.
• Experience appropriate to the assignment, with experience supporting students with disabilities, especially those with mental health and regulation needs.
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or experience providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy.
• Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Highline's mission and values.
• Willingness to complete adaptive services, including feeding, diapering, or other needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Requirements

• Must complete Denver Public Schools' approved written and physical exams and trainings covering de-escalation and physical restraint training.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including running, walking quickly, bending, kneeling, crouching, sitting, standing, grabbing, holding, lifting up to 50 lbs, maintaining appropriate demeanor, and professional classroom behavior.
• The ability to support children to de-escalate, including restraining using DPS-approved methods (training and certification will be provided).
• Specialized training in invasive procedures, such as tube feeding and catheterization.

Pay

$37,000 - $42,000*

Please see attached salary scale based on years of experience.
