Position Purpose
Provide instruction for music students in band, choir, orchestra or composition. An assignment may include one or more buildings.
Responsibilities
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Mets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and -- in harmony with the goals--establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Transports district materials to specific buildings.
- Arranges and sets up classrooms.
- Maintains inventory of instruments and equipment.
- Plans and directs performances.
- Clocks schedules with building staff.
- Travels between buildings.
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education
- ND Teaching License or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Two to three years teaching experience
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education with vocal emphasis
