About the role
The Elementary Large Group Manager leads the vision, planning, and execution of all Elementary large group experiences at Calvary Chapel. This includes creating engaging, age-appropriate, and Gospel-centered environments where kids learn about Jesus and are excited to return each week. The role involves overseeing large group teaching plans, service flow, creative elements, and production details to ensure a high-quality and spiritually impactful experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead vision, planning, and execution of all Elementary large group experiences
- Oversee large group teaching plans, service flow, creative elements, and production details
- Collaborate with Theater, production, worship, and various ministry teams to create engaging worship experiences and cohesive large group environments
- Ensure Bible stories and Scripture are communicated in fun, creative, memorable, and spiritually impactful ways
- Provide creative direction for worship experiences, stage design, media elements, games, transitions, and overall service atmosphere
- Recruit, train, and empower a self-sustaining volunteer team to own and execute all AV and technical production needs
- Collaborate with Small Group teams to ensure large group content supports meaningful follow-up discussion and discipleship within the small groups
- Recruit, train, develop, schedule, and lead large group volunteers and creative teams
- Equip leaders and volunteers with creative ideas, resources, coaching, and support for continued growth and excellence
- Support and help execute major Kids Ministry events including Easter, Christmas, and other ministry events and initiatives
- Participate in planning meetings, team meetings, and vision discussions to support alignment across Calvary Kids
- Maintain consistency in vision, culture, and the overall look and feel of the Calvary Kids experience across all campuses
- Serve as the primary weekly communicator for Elementary large group experiences, delivering high-energy, Gospel-centered messages
- Oversee and equip the AV and Tech teams by recruiting and training a reliable volunteer base to handle weekly production needs
- Build a pipeline of secondary communicators, actively coaching and providing opportunities for gifted volunteers or high school students to host or teach
Requirements
- Strong creative communication and storytelling skills suited for an elementary-aged audience
- A shepherd’s heart with the ability to recruit, coach, and empower volunteers rather than just doing the ministry alone
- A deep love for Scripture and a proven ability to teach Biblical truths to children in an engaging, high-energy, and memorable way
- Strong personal time-management and organizational skills to manage weekly service flows, scripts, and volunteer schedules
- Excellent organizational skills with an appreciation for details
- Comfort utilizing and learning ministry-related software (e.g., ProPresenter, Planning Center) to facilitate large group experiences
- Excellent interpersonal skills for relating effectively with staff members, leadership, volunteers, the church body, and members of the community
- The ability to be flexible and demonstrate excellent time-management skills
- The ability to handle multiple projects at one time, complete projects on time, and follow through efficiently
- Spiritual and emotional maturity
- The ability to maintain and display compassion and firmness when ministering to the special needs of the church body
- Discernment to keep confidential matters confidential
- Management skills and leadership qualities for overseeing staff and volunteers
- The ability to remain calm and level-headed when faced with pressing needs or injuries in Kids Ministry or at an event
- The ability to relate to both parents and children depending on specific situations
- Gifts of the Holy Spirit that are evident and actively flowing daily
- A teachable spirit and a flexible posture when needed
