About the Role
The Assistant Principal assists with overall school management, including community relations, personnel matters, and curriculum & instruction. This role works closely with the principal to ensure the success of the school's operations, directing and coordinating educational and administrative activities either personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of grade band content standards.
- Ensure conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities.
- Conduct research and aid in the implementation of curriculum resources that meet state standards for Math, ELA, SCI, and SS.
- Help articulate the school's mission and vision to ensure all stakeholders have a common understanding and work cooperatively toward desired results.
- Utilize communication technologies and practices that support a predominantly virtual/remote work environment.
- Ensure the school meets the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the school's student achievement plan and work with the academic team to execute it.
- Support the grade level principal/director in daily duties required to keep the department functioning and compliant.
- Address parent and student concerns related to school operations, student attendance, and student discipline.
- Communicate with stakeholders regarding student attendance and discipline.
- Serve as the point of contact for ARB meetings and processes.
- Establish a school-wide discipline system, including behavioral rewards and consequences.
- Allocate supplies, equipment, and instructional materials as needed.
- Assist in coordinating and implementing school meetings.
- Conduct teacher evaluations and observations per state requirements using the TKES platform.
- Assist in the review and interview process of potential candidates.
- Facilitate personnel matters, including progressive discipline, hiring, and termination.
- Attend all required training by the Georgia Department of Education and GCA.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities for school administrators and ELA, Math, SCI, and SS teachers in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Directly supervise staff/teachers overseeing 3000+ students (subject to change). Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and addressing complaints.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Statistics & Analysis, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of leadership experience and three (3) years of virtual teaching experience, earning a "Meets" or "Exceeds" expectations in all categories at each year-end review or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Clearance Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
- GA PSC Educational Certificate in field.
- Leadership Endorsement, Certificate, or Degree.
- TKES/LKES credentialed.
- Clear Fingerprint/Background Check.

- Gifted, Special Education, and/or ESOL certifications.
- APSI certification.
- Proficient/Advanced data analysis skills.
- Google Certifications.
- Experience using NWEA MAP, Illuminate DnA, WriteScore, FLVS Global, Edgenuity, Discovery Education, Bright Thinker, Writable, NEWSELA, Legends of Learning, Education Galaxy, Learning A-Z, MindPlay, USA Test Prep, IXL, BrainPOP, Edmentum Exact Path, Moby Max, iReady, Classworks, Nearpod, etc.
- Working knowledge of Securly.
- Proficient/Advanced experience with Infinite Campus (SIS).
- Proficient/Advanced with Canvas (LMS).
- Working knowledge of Jigsaw Interactive (live classroom tool).
- Proficient/Advanced in use of Zoom conferencing tool.
- Three (3) years of experience in a virtual educational environment.
- Previous experience as a Learning Facilitator, Advisor, or Teacher at Georgia Cyber Academy.
- Previous experience as an online educator.
- Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments.
Physical Abilities & Working Conditions
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, primarily remote. In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and/or testing sites required several times per year.
- Vision: Ability (corrected or uncorrected) to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
- Hearing: Ability (corrected or uncorrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
