About the role

Hyde Park Day School (HPDS) is the leading educational program in the Chicago metropolitan area dedicated exclusively to bright students with learning disabilities. We are currently seeking a passionate, patient, and dedicated Elementary Education Teacher to join our Northfield Campus.

Responsibilities

• Teach in a supportive and structured environment
• Guide students through a transformative learning experience
• Admit only students with moderate to severe learning disabilities and screen for behavioral and emotional concerns
• Work in a small instructional group with a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio
• Utilize a state-of-the-art instructional and assistive technology program
• Collaborate with a clinical team including speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and social workers
• Participate in ongoing professional development and certification opportunities
• Receive free Wilson Language Training certification as HPDS is a Wilson Language Training partner school

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience in elementary education and/or a core content area at the secondary level
• Experience with Orton-Gillingham instruction (preferred, not required)

Skills

• Ability to work in a small, supportive classroom setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Orton-Gillingham instruction (preferred, not required)

$45,000-$72,000

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
