About the role
The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.
Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Guides the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals and sets clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Employs various instructional techniques and media, considering physical constraints and student capabilities.
- Strives to implement the district's educational philosophy, goals, and performance expectations through instruction and actions.
- Affirms student learning by regularly assessing achievements and providing progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate records and diagnoses learning challenges, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Maintains a safe and secure learning environment by following safety protocols and adhering to the school's code of conduct.
- Supervises paraprofessionals and evaluates their work as required.
- Maintains a continuous professional development plan that aligns with district requirements and personal goals.
- Participates in the teacher evaluation process and contributes to mutually agreed-upon outcomes.
- Attends building and district meetings to facilitate communication and decision-making.
- Supports school-sponsored activities and contributes to district and building decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and personal well-being.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
Qualifications
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
