Position Purpose

The Elementary Classroom Teacher facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum; assessing and responding to individual student needs; and creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License with Elementary endorsement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Create a classroom environment that is safe, equitable, inclusive, and conducive to learning for all students.
  • Plan, develop, and implement instructional programs aligned with district curriculum, state standards, and school goals.
  • Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities and other specialized needs.
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement in accordance with district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and educational needs.
  • Promote positive student behavior and citizenship consistent with district policies and Oregon law.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and other staff to support student learning and evaluate instructional practices.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and continuous professional growth activities.
  • Administer district and state assessments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Supervise students in classrooms and during school-related activities, including those occurring outside the classroom.
  • Select and maintain instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or District Administration.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and via phone or technology.
  • Ability to respond to classroom interactions, student needs, and environmental cues.
  • Ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Compensation & Benefit Highlights

  • 190-day per year contract.
  • 6 paid holidays per year.
  • $49,407 to $98,197, DOE and education.
