Elementary Art Teacher 2026-2027

About the role

Riverview Gardens School District seeks a teacher to report directly to the building principal. This position supervises specific areas of responsibility related to classroom or program settings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily and long-range planning for classroom or program activities.
• Show knowledge of the curriculum and subject matter.
• Use effective teaching techniques, strategies, and skills during lessons.
• Evaluate student progress.
• Manage student behavior.
• Maintain a classroom climate conducive to learning.
• Demonstrate a positive working relationship with the students.
• Communicate student progress and needs to parents.
• Engage in positive interpersonal relationships with members of the school staff.
• Follow policies, regulations, and procedures of the school district.
• Assume responsibilities outside the classroom.
• Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
• A teaching certificate substantiating completion of eligibility requirements for Art at the elementary, middle, or secondary education level.

Physical Demands

• Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Exerts 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
• Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
• Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects.
• Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 20 feet.
• Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups.
• Occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time.
• The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and is generally a hazard free environment.
• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
