Electronics Worker Leader

Summary

West Palm Beach VA Medical Center seeks an Electronics Worker Leader. This role involves leading a team of 5 employees in the electronics section of Facilities Management Service (FMS).

Responsibilities

• Ensures electronic systems supporting patient care, life safety, and facility operations are maintained, repaired, and operated safely, reliably, and efficiently

Duties

• Functions as a work leader over a group of five employees (3 WG-2604-11 Electronics Mechanics and 2 GS-0856-10-Electronics Technicians)
• Passes on instructions from supervisor, assigns tasks, establishes work priorities, sequences work, and ensures employees understand job requirements, deadlines, and procedures
• Works alongside employees as needed, sets work pace, checks work in progress and upon completion to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with instructions
• Performs and leads complex installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic systems including Fire Alarm Systems, Building Automation Systems, Building Egress and Ingress Systems, Security Camera Systems, Pneumatic Tube Systems, Nurse Call Systems, Patient Wander Systems, Radio Communication Systems, Patient Entertainment Systems, Automatic Door Operators, and Communication Network Systems
• Uses schematics, diagnostic tools, and technical manuals to restore systems to proper operating conditions
• Plans and coordinates daily work activities for the electronics shop or work group
• Captures input on material requirements, system outages, and workload priorities to minimize disruption to patient care and facility operations
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations, infection control requirements, life safety standards, and VA policies
• Provides on-the-job technical guidance and training to electronics staff on proper work methods, system operation, and safe work practices
• Identifies and corrects unsafe conditions or practices
• Ensures work orders, preventive maintenance records, inspection logs, and related documentation are completed accurately and timely using automated maintenance management systems such as VISTA, VATAS, and related software
• Tracks system performance, outages, and maintenance history and reports status to supervision

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Work requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and carrying equipment and tools
• May work in confined spaces and awkward positions
• Work is performed in mechanical rooms, patient care areas, offices, and other facility locations
• May be exposed to electrical hazards, noise, dust, and varying temperatures and must follow established safety procedures
