About the role

Supports nuclear instrumentation and radiation detection product lines, playing a key role in ensuring product quality and reliability. This position focuses on hands-on testing, design support, and engineering change activities for system-level electronic equipment used in medical device testing and radiation detection/instrumentation applications.

The role is based at a small manufacturing site that combines laboratory and office spaces, providing a close-knit, collaborative environment with approximately 20 team members across quality, service, production, and engineering. Work involves hands-on activities in a lab setting with system-level electronic test equipment, circuit boards, and radiation detection/instrumentation products, as well as desk-based tasks for documentation, design support, and collaboration. The facility focuses on medical device testing equipment and nuclear-related radiation detection products, offering exposure to regulated industry projects and upcoming new initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer and internal applications and provide technical support and recommendations for nuclear instrumentation and radiation detection products.
  • Support electronics design updates, including component replacements and product improvements, to maintain performance and reliability.
  • Develop, execute, and document product testing plans to verify equipment performance, qualification, and long-term reliability.
  • Write and maintain test plans and procedures to qualify equipment, not only executing tests but also defining test requirements and methods.
  • Identify obsolete electronic components and specify suitable replacements, supporting engineering change activities and product lifecycle management.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics, circuit board layouts, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to support design and test activities.
  • Troubleshoot electronic products and systems at the circuit and system level, providing hands-on support to production test and assembly technicians.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to resolve technical issues and support new and existing projects within the nuclear industry.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including test reports, configuration records, and design support documentation, in alignment with documentation control processes.
  • Contribute to the design and qualification of system-level test equipment and instrumentation used for medical device testing and radiation detection.
  • Support applications engineering activities, including understanding customer requirements and translating them into test and design support actions.
  • Participate in qualification testing efforts to ensure products meet regulatory, industry, and customer standards, especially for regulated industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or Nuclear Engineering, or an associate degree with strong hands-on electronics experience.
  • 3 plus years of experience in electronics design, testing, applications engineering, reliability, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong background in electronics and electronic design, including circuit board and analog circuit testing.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from schematics, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with test engineering for electronic systems and circuit-level troubleshooting.
  • Ability to develop, write, execute, and document test plans and qualification procedures for electronic equipment.
  • Experience supporting engineering change activities, including identifying obsolete components and specifying replacements.
  • Capability to provide technical support to production test and assembly technicians in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong documentation skills for maintaining technical records and test reports.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service.

Skills

  • Experience in a regulated industry such as nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical device, or similar environments.
  • Understanding of instrumentation or sensor-based electronic systems, particularly in radiation detection and nuclear radiation testing.
  • Experience with CAD tools for electronics or mechanical design support.
  • Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems.
  • Experience with technical documentation control processes and systems.
  • Exposure to qualification testing for system-level equipment and instrumentation.
  • Comfort working with system-level test equipment and designing or supporting test systems.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $57.00/hr.
