Electronics Technician Maintenance II BFTN (SATCOM)
About the role
The Electronics Technician Maintenance (ETM) II applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
Responsibilities
- Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
- Familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments.
- Understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing tasks such as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow.
- Using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
- Providing technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
Requirements
- Prior working knowledge on two or more of the following systems is required: Battle Force Tactical Network (BFTN), Digital Modular Radio (DMR), Commercial Broadband Satellite Program (CBSP), Navy Multi-band Terminal (NMT), Extremely High Frequency (EHF), Super High Frequency (SHF), Global Broadcast System (GBS), KA Band, and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) Processor (TIP).
- Perform all duties unsupervised.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Travel Required: 25%.
- Work Location: San Diego, CA.
- This position is required to have and maintain a Secret US DoD security clearance.
Skills
- Desired to be capable of performing all duties unsupervised.
- Desired to provide the status of their assigned tasks via both prepared and ad hoc oral briefings to senior Navy personnel.
- Must be able to develop written instructions, procedures, schematics and other technical documentation.
