About the role

M.C. Dean is seeking an Electronics Technician 2 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES Strategic Business Unit, you will design, engineer, integrate, operate, and maintain electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audiovisual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers across high-growth markets.

Responsibilities

  • Executes technical tasks and responsibilities within field operations, including on-site installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment and systems.
  • Ensures functionality and reliability of various technologies by conducting site surveys, configuring hardware and software, testing systems, and providing technical support.
  • Utilizes and comprehends project safety plans (JHA, AHA, PFW), enforcing adherence to M.C. Dean handbook and policies.
  • Analyzes and interprets M.C. Dean drawing packages to assess constructability, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Verifies correct charges in timesheets on projects, executing installation and maintenance activities within planned durations.
  • Tracks and inventories tools, conducting consistent tool inspections and performing tool inventory at the end of each day.
  • Participates in 10-minute daily ORM meetings, ensuring team compliance with safety requirements.
  • Contributes to PITCO plan creation and build-out, executing the plan including testing to verify high quality.
  • Installs system raceway, cabling, equipment racks, enclosures, panels, and mounting hardware, ensuring proper grounding and adherence to NEC standards.
  • Terminates, tests, and configures electronic devices, network, and IT equipment.
  • Racks and stacks head-end equipment, terminates cables, and performs cable terminations per industry standards.
  • Communicates consistently with M.C. Dean project teams, demonstrating dedication, punctuality, and preparedness.
  • Acts as a collaborative teammate, providing and absorbing constructive feedback with internal and external customers.
  • Plans and prioritizes tasks effectively, embodying M.C. Dean’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Surveys and documents existing field conditions, providing feedback and recommendations to the project team.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required; applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility for access to classified information. Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
  • Valid driver’s license; may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle with an acceptable driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in electronics installation and/or maintenance across multiple systems and customer programs.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vendor certifications in IDS, ACS, and CCTV systems (e.g., CCURE, Lenel, Identiv/Hirsch Velocity, Bosch Radionics, Bosch CCTV, Bosch BVMS).
  • Certifications or experience with AIphone Intercom Systems, Airphone, FFT, DIVAR, and Windows operating systems.
  • Graduation from an accredited Electronics Technician program or Electrical Apprenticeship program.
  • 3+ years of experience focused on electronic security systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Skills

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks such as loading/unloading, operating equipment, and transporting materials safely.
  • Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at heights up to 60 feet, including climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
  • Routine and repetitive physical tasks including walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Good vision (may be corrected), color vision, and ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • Ability to use a standard ladder without exceeding weight limits while carrying tools.
  • Recognizes when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
  • Applies general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
  • Combines pieces of information to form general conclusions, including identifying relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
  • Sees details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Listens to and understands information presented through spoken words and sentences.
