About the role
Pima County Facilities Management is seeking two Electronic Specialist I - Fire and Intrusion Alarm Technicians.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled analysis, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electronic systems, controls, instrumentation, and related equipment;
- Performs quality control testing and diagnostic analysis to ensure proper system functionality and makes corrective adjustments as needed;
- Fabricates, modifies, or installs electronic equipment and system components from verbal instructions, sketches, plans, or technical drawings;
- Prepares estimates for repair, maintenance, or special projects based on sketches, plans, and engineering specifications;
- Prepares sketches, diagrams, and documentation to support work performed or proposed;
- Maintains detailed records of activities, services, repairs, and usage of supported equipment and systems;
- Inspects and maintains assigned tools, test equipment, and vehicles to ensure operational readiness;
- Collaborates with other divisions, agencies, or contractors to optimize resources and minimize service disruptions;
- Maintains security and accountability for tools, equipment, and materials, particularly in sensitive or restricted settings.
Requirements
- Completion of an industry-recognized apprenticeship program in the electronics trade AND one year of relevant journeyman-level experience;
- Two years with Pima County in a Trades Maintenance Specialist II or closely related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
Qualifications
- Recent experience, within the last five (5) years, maintaining, installing, upgrading, modifying, and programming electronic gate and door access control systems;
- Recent experience, within the last five (5) years, constructing and repairing analog and digital telecommunication systems, including CCTV camera systems, intercom, public address, computer LAN, and A/V systems;
- Recent experience, within the last five (5) years, installing, inspecting, testing, and servicing fire alarm systems using current NFPA standards;
- Recent experience, within the last five (5) years, installing, and servicing intrusion alarm systems;
- Journeyman-level experience with test instruments including, but not limited to, oscilloscopes, digital and analog multimeters, signal generators, voltmeters, current meters, frequency meters, audio and video level meters, and AC/DC power supplies;
- Recent experience, within the last five (5) years, performing electronic tasks including, but not limited to, the printed circuit board component level;
- NICET 1 Certification for Fire Alarm Systems.
Skills
- Ability to obtain jail pass is required.
