Electronics Soldering Technician III

Responsibilities

  • Makes and assembles cables and wire harnesses, by soldering wires into connectors (cup soldering) and crimping various terminals to populate into housings
  • Tests and performs functional checks on completed assemblies
  • Fills out travelers and documents components’ progress through the shop and handles Lot/Serial tracking for product traceability
  • Uses production tools and equipment including soldering irons, wire cutters, stripper/crimpers, Windows-based PCs, etc.
  • Performs in-process configuration, calibration, and verification on equipment
  • Completes functional and mechanical check outs as necessary
  • Supports improvement of Test equipment and procedures
  • Supports problem solving activities for technical issues
  • Develops and trains other team members
  • Communicates effectively with management and teammates to discuss challenges and support problem resolution
  • Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years of experience soldering and/or hand crimping
  • Experience in a production setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cup soldering and JST/Molex crimping
  • IPC 620 certification or similar
  • Familiarity with electronics
  • Familiarity with AS9100 standards
  • Familiarity using a microscope

Work Environment And Physical Requirements

  • The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area.
  • Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions.
  • The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending.
  • Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone.
  • Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile.
  • Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment.
  • Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
