Electronics Repair Lab Specialist
Summary Of Job Duties And Responsibilities

The Electronics Repair Lab Specialist is responsible for implementing a variety of tasks associated with planning, developing and performing troubleshooting, refurbishment and repairs of electrical and electronic items (i.e., circuit boards, power supplies etc.).
The personnel in the position will be required to develop test procedures and test set-ups for items being serviced, perform the refurbishment and repairs and complete and document prescribed acceptance testing.
In addition, this position at times may require personnel to assist in the areas of dedication testing and failure analysis.
Qualifications
- Required: In-depth technical knowledge of complex electrical and electronic devices and the ability to analyze electronic circuits.
- Must be able to understand how a part or component functions then conceptualize and visualize how the item must be tested to verify its proper operation.
- Must have the ability to take a failed part/component, develop an understanding of why or how it failed, and devise methods and procedures to repair and test the item prior to returning it to the site as a usable spare.
- Must demonstrate strong computer skills as well as communication, inter-personal, customer service and time management skills.
- Must obtain and maintain qualifications required to perform electrical/electronic repairs (i.e. specialized test equipment, circuit theory, soldering).
- Must have demonstrated performance and proficiency at previous electrical/electronic technical or equivalent experience.
- Must be available to work overtime, call-ins and off-shifts.
- Must have demonstrated ability for solving technical problems.
- Should be able to lead others by having a thorough understanding of projects.
- Should have demonstrated initiative, creativity, dependability, good judgment and a good work ethic.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Education
- High school education with up to 2 years of formal post high school specialized trade, military or technical training in electrical and electronic components and 5 years’ experience;
- An Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school in electronic engineering or servicing and 3 years’ experience;
- A 4-year degree in a related field with 0-2 years’ experience.
