About the role
We are searching for a motivated and experienced Electronics Mechanic to join Europastry, a growing family business founded in Barcelona in 1987. This position is responsible for troubleshooting and performing major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance of equipment on site, including motors and refrigeration rooms, to maximize uptime. You will train staff as required and coordinate with other mechanics on duty for repairs, ensuring all assigned work is completed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on various machines, following diagrams, machine manuals, and manufacturer instructions.
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning components, systems, and apparatus using testing tools and equipment, including PLC issues. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for issues; plan repairs for problems that occur.
- Read and comprehend Maintenance Equipment Manuals, OEM Technical documentation, and mechanical and electrical drawings/schematics.
- Use a PC for technical information search, completion of required documentation, and email communication.
- Communicate with OEMs as needed to resolve technical issues.
- Safely work with AC & DC voltages (24-480V) and replace electrical components such as 3-phase motors, VFDs, sensors, motor starters, power supplies, and position-sensing devices.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, hand, and power tools; examine devices for repair and/or replacement.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, straight edges, and other necessary tools.
- Complete scheduled and emergency Work Orders through CMMS to maintain optimum manufacturing line efficiencies; record data into MP2 as required.
- Inform supervisors and management regarding potential hazards and recommend corrective solutions.
- Stay abreast of new technology, electrical services, devices, and manufacturing processes.
- Perform all work in accordance with OSHA standards for general industry.
- Follow blueprints and plans to install electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
- Attend company-scheduled meetings (e.g., safety, production, department meetings).
- Timely inform supervision of any problems or complications that may arise.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
- Meet company standards for quantity and quality of work performed; adhere to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding workplace behavior.
- Follow all Company Safety policies, GMP regulations, and lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA.
- Maintain awareness of food safety and safe food handling practices relevant to the job; complete mandatory in-house Food Safety Training. Recognize, prevent, and alleviate food safety hazards. Requires good working knowledge of the SQF code.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience as an electronics mechanic.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of electrical tools and machines used in industrial settings.
- Working knowledge of PLC, VSD, and industrial controls.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to measure size and dimension using calipers and interpret bar graphs.
- Proficient in electrical installations, maintenance, and repair in all settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, and MP2.
- Ability to operate industrial forklifts, equipment, or tools.
- Flexible to work overtime, including weekends as needed.
