About the Role
As an Electronics Engineer, you will work directly with electrical engineers to build, bring up, and rework vehicle components and PCB assemblies, and help scale existing work into production. The role includes assembling cable harnesses, PCB-level assembly, and rework on small components. You will act as the "quarterback" of the lab, ensuring all components, tools, and assets are tracked, organized, and ready for rapid-turnaround testing. We seek a detail-oriented, self-starter who adapts easily to change.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with the team on new and current electronics destined for vehicle testing.
- Assemble and rework multi-layer electronic circuit boards.
- Build, modify, and repair automotive-grade wire harnesses using industry-standard connectors (e.g., TE, Molex, Deutsch).
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels, test hardware on industrial rack systems, and test benches.
- Help maintain, expand, and improve the electronics lab and workspaces, including purchasing and maintaining tools and stocking parts.
- Create, manage, and track electrical components, connectors, and consumables; proactively restock parts to ensure zero downtime for engineering sprints.
- Create and maintain a "Lend/Receive" system for high-value equipment to ensure accountability across team members/teams.
- Manage the intake of prototype parts and the outbound shipment of test fixtures to external sites or vehicle teams.
- Conduct detailed inspections of PCBAs and cable assemblies to locate and resolve assembly issues.
- Handle purchases of various components needed for engineers within the team and across teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with electronic product assembly, with 2+ years of work experience, including prototype work and functional verification (testing) specifically with electronics.
- Hands-on and fluent with basic lab equipment: DMM, power supplies, electronic loads.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and BOMs.
- Superb soldering and rework skills.
- Experienced and comfortable working under a microscope.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical hand tools common in electronic assemblies.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency on macOS or Windows with browser-based applications.
Qualifications
- Good documentation and communication skills (strong technical writing).
- Ability to proactively communicate with all employees and work well in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and input from multiple sources (Managers, Engineers).
- Pride in detail-oriented, methodical, careful, and clean work that leads to a very low rate of defects in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to diagnose electrical systems is a plus.
- Experience working on safety-critical electronics destined for harsh environments such as vehicles, aircraft, missiles, or space systems is a plus.
- PCB Design on Altium / KiCAD.
- CAD skills in Altium Designer or SolidWorks are a plus.
- Jira and Confluence skills a plus.
- Comfortable using Linux environments.
Pay
$60 - $70/hr.
