The position of Electronic Technician II will perform the installation and maintenance of Kentucky State Police electronic equipment including, radios, radars, mobile data routers, antennas, emergency equipment, and other public safety equipment. The role of Electronic Technician II will work closely with other technicians. This position will also evaluate and develop new methods, practices, and new technical or electronic equipment as they relate to Public Safety. All these duties are intended to equip the public safety personnel of the Kentucky State Police with the tools they need to perform their duties safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs electronic equipment and devices.
  • Tests electronic equipment to evaluate performance and recommends corrective procedures.
  • Coordinates work done in the supply electronic shop and in the field.
  • Monitors stock level of electronic parts and makes orders, as necessary.
  • Tests and evaluates new electronic equipment to determine feasibility of Agency use.
  • Inspects surplus vehicles to determine which electronic parts may be repaired or reused.
  • Removes parts from surplus vehicles; makes any necessary repairs and installs into new vehicles.
  • Contacts vendors regarding warranty work on electronic equipment and ensures the work is completed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • One year of technical experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Technical training in electronics or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional technical experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Pay & schedule

  • Salary: $2,623.40–$3,935.20 Monthly
  • Employment Type: EXECUTIVE BRANCH | FULL TIME | ELIGIBLE FOR OVERTIME PAY | 18A | 40 HR/WK
  • Pay Grade: 10

Working conditions

Work is typically performed in an office and/or electronic shop.

Probationary period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
