BASIC FUNCTION
The electronic locksmith is responsible for the repair, and service of locks, electronic access equipment, and related hardware.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Performs operations as required by job work order and/or maintenance order in preventive maintenance.
- Operate and maintain hand tools and specialized locksmith tools, materials and equipment.
- Maintain computerized and manual records.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean and proper working condition.
- Cut keys and re-key locks.
- Read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Plan and organize work to meet changing deadlines and priorities.
- Adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
- Work independently with little direction.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic operational characteristics of technology related to access control, alarm monitoring and CCTV.
- Principles and practices related to facility security and communication systems.
- Basic hardware and software related to facility security systems.
- Modern methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in locksmith work including electronic door systems.
- Key code systems used to generate Master keys.
