Duties And Responsibilities
- Contribute to product design requirement definition by gathering inputs and translating them into clear hardware needs
- Build, instrument, and test proof-of-concept hardware to evaluate feasibility, risks, and design tradeoffs
- Create and maintain engineering documentation (e.g., manufacturing drawings, regulatory approval drawings, test procedures/reports, user manuals, product specifications, evaluation reports, proposals/estimates, and technical reports)
- Support occasional field or environment testing (e.g., warehouses or mine sites) to gather data and validate product performance
- Support component lifecycle management by identifying obsolescence risks and helping qualify acceptable substitute parts
Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 2–8 years of experience in electronic hardware design and development
- Demonstrated experience using PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer—preferred—KiCad, OrCAD, Eagle, etc.)
- Good understanding of analog and digital circuit operation and design techniques
- Proficient knowledge of electrical test and measurement techniques using common lab equipment (DMMs, power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to isolate root cause and recommend corrective actions
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and cross-functional teams
Working Conditions
- Climate-controlled office or lab setting
- Occasional travel to supplier/partner facilities or to customer/field locations, supporting initial product R&D and testing or troubleshooting
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally stand, walk, stoop, or crouch
- May need to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
