Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking an Electronic Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Engineer - Level 3/4 to join our team in Gilbert, AZ. In this role, you will join a team of EGSE Engineers interfacing with spacecraft subsystem engineers to obtain design requirements. Early on, there will be design work requiring documentation development in electrical and mechanical design, followed by support in an Engineering Development Lab (EDL) during hardware assembly. The next phase involves integration and troubleshooting of the product to test the Unit Under Test (UUT).

You will design test equipment (test racks, fixtures, digital/analog/serial interface cards, cables, etc.) to test and validate satellite components. You will collaborate with hardware and software engineers to create test solutions for components under ambient and space conditions, such as thermal vacuum.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Cognizant Engineer and Test Engineer of flight hardware to obtain Hardware Unit Under Test (UUT) specification requirements.
  • Develop requirements for testing space vehicle components or UUT.
  • Collaborate with spacecraft UUT Design Engineers to ensure component test equipment (CTE)/automated test equipment (ATE) validates circuit cards and electronics boxes under all test environments.
  • Develop test plans for UUT hardware environmental requirements with the Test Engineer.
  • Generate review materials and support design reviews for test equipment in development.
  • Design hardware for CTE and ATE to test space vehicle components.
  • Ensure technical requirements, cost, and schedule for CTE/ATE system development are met.
  • Perform end-to-end design, debug, test, and certification of CTE/ATE systems.
  • Document, develop, and release CTE/ATE systems.
  • Generate Certification Test Procedures.
  • Support test and debug for flight and non-flight spacecraft electronic circuit card assemblies (CCA) and boxes.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s in STEM; 3 years with a Master’s; 1 year with a PhD.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Government Clearance.
  • Experience documenting and developing cable drawings/wiring diagrams.
  • Experience designing test hardware.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical circuit schematics.

Basic Qualifications for Level 4:

  • 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s in STEM; 6 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a PhD.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Government Clearance.
  • Experience documenting and developing cable drawings/wiring diagrams.
  • Experience designing test hardware.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical circuit schematics.

Skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience designing hardware components for ATE/CTE.
  • Experience using and programming Avionics/Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).
  • Experience using National LabVIEW (RT & FPGA) as the primary development tool for EGSE software design.
  • Experience using Python, Perl, STOL, or TestStand.
  • Understanding of Power Converter Design.
  • Experience developing high-level drawings with Visio.
  • Experience in test requirements development.
  • Experience in development and support of QTP/ATP/EMI testing.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting flight cards and boxes.
  • Proficiency in circuit analysis and design.
  • Proficiency in schematic analysis and capture.
  • Proficiency in cable design.
  • Proficiency in EGSE rack design.
  • Experience with EGSE thermal analysis.
  • Fundamental understanding of general and specialized test equipment (Signal Generators, Logic Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power equipment, Digital Multimeters).

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
