About the role
The Electronic & Continuing Resources Librarian provides leadership and expertise in the acquisition, licensing, access management, and ongoing evaluation of electronic resources. This position plays a central role in negotiating and managing licenses for databases, electronic journals, e-books, data sets, and emerging digital content that support the University of Georgia’s research, teaching, and public service mission.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and expertise in the acquisition, licensing, access management, and ongoing evaluation of electronic resources.
- Negotiates and manages licenses for databases, electronic journals, e-books, data sets, and emerging digital content.
- Ensures that electronic resources are licensed in ways that balance user access, fiscal responsibility, legal compliance, and strategic priorities such as open access, accessibility, and data-driven decision making.
- Contributes to library-wide collection strategies, vendor relationships, and assessment initiatives.
- Serves as a key point of contact for license interpretation and use rights throughout the organization.
Requirements
- An ALA-accredited Master’s in Library and Information Science or relevant terminal degree.
- 2 years of experience in an electronic resources or acquisitions environment.
Qualifications
- Understanding of vendor relations and knowledge of negotiations and site-licensing for electronic resources.
- Awareness of acquisitions principles, processes, and systems.
- Knowledge of current e-resource standards and protocols (KBART, COUNTER, and SERU).
- Familiarity with electronic resource tools such as link resolvers, discovery services, knowledge bases, and electronic resource management systems.
- Ability to plan, lead, and evaluate e-resource systems and workflows.
- Knowledge of technical challenges related to online and networked delivery of e-resources.
- Ability to assess, develop, and implement technology to promote the successful management of the department.
- Ability to work independently, exercise individual initiative, and demonstrate flexibility.
- Ability to supervise, train, and work collaboratively to nurture and develop a team of staff.

Pay
Minimum salary begins at $60,000; offers will be commensurate with experience.
